Even at a young age, the youth is capable of contributing to the change that they badly wanted to have. Here are ways that could help a youth be politically active even without needing the ability to vote.
“Not being able to vote will never stop me from making an impact! This is a historical moment, so get engaged,” - Annaya Singh, 15 years old YEA Camper
Here are some ways to help the nation eliminate poor governance if you’re too young to vote:
Be educated
Read and learn about what is happening around you. Educate yourself with factual and reliable information. Get to know about the candidates and what they can offer. There are a lot of experts trying to predict who will win, rather than a genuine debate on what the politicians actually believed and what is the best for the people. Study and browse if you aren't sure who’ll you choose and if you want to further discover the party list, discover and understand their platform and debates. Feed yourself with all the factual information that you can get.
Educate other people
Once well-informed, you can help by advocating for them. Let people know about their accomplishments, advocacies, and why they are eligible to be in the position.
Intern or volunteer for a campaign
If you’re dedicated enough, participate by volunteering for the campaign of your candidate. A lot of congressional and local elections are approaching, providing a great chance to learn about the political systems also while having a larger impact on a campaign.
Use your voice
Do not be afraid to speak up and share your stand. Be loud and take part in political discussions. Aside from your relatives and close friends, you can influence others by sharing the knowledge that you have. No matter the age, we can do something to change each other’s lives. If you are voting, participation is really important. Any of the above actions will have a large influence on a lot of individuals, and in addition those votes will add up, elections are coming up, but still we have a chance to change things. So don’t be afraid to speak up and participate.
Tumindig, mag-ingay, mag-salita. May boses ka. Mga kabataan, tayo naman.
